On 27 March, a seminar titled “Underwater Cultural-Historical Landscapes: Current Frameworks and Approaches for Effective Management” took place at the Jūrmala Museum, organised by the National Heritage Board of Latvia.
Researcher Ieva Bārda from the Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology delivered a presentation titled “Identification and Research of Geological Structures in the Kurzeme Region.” She introduced participants to best practice examples from the Interreg Latvia–Lithuania Programme project GEOSITES, focusing on the protection and sustainable management of geological heritage in both terrestrial and underwater areas across Latvia and Lithuania.
The management of underwater landscapes is a complex and multidimensional issue. Therefore, the seminar also featured presentations on marine spatial planning and research delivered by representatives of the Nature Conservation Agency of Latvia, the University of Latvia Faculty of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development.
