At the end of the year, shortly before Christmas, a significant contribution was made to the Dobele County and city guests – the improvement works in the Dobele Castle Garden were completed within the project. Paths, lighting, benches and waste bins were built. Garden is opened for visitors.
The opening event was attended by employees of Dobele County Museum, the construction company SIA “Legāts”, the construction supervisor SIA “Somniar”, author supervisor SIA “Rūķis AG” and archaeologist Andris Tomašūns with his team. Chairman of the Dobele County municipality emphasized: “Not so long ago, there were only castle ruins here. Currently, Dobele Castle is a place that serves as a multifunctional center for culture, tourism, education and social life. Let us continue to restore, continue to do and, most importantly, be proud of what we already have.”
In the spring, the medicinal plants of Duchess Elizabeth Magdalena will be re-integrated into the environment. In parallel, an interactive audiovisual instant-use application for the plants of the Dobele Castle Garden (QR codes) is also being created, which will make the object even more attractive to users.
The idea behind is that a visitor to the Dobele Palace garden, while in the palace garden, learns about the plants growing in the garden with the help of a smart device, for example, by scanning the code on the box, an explanation of the plants shown in the box and their usage opens.
Another project activity was implemented in October 2025 – tourism specialists from the project partners had the opportunity to participate in training and improve their professionalism, acquiring skills for modern communication with clients in the real and virtual environment.
