This month, the ICEREG project has reached an important milestone: national Stakeholder workshops were held in both Lithuania and Latvia.

On December 10, the Stakeholder workshop in Panevėžys took place, gathering representatives of municipalities and local community, as well as Lithuanian EPA, Lithuanian Environment Ministry, and project partner institutions – 30 in-person and 6 online participants in total.

On December 16, the workshop in Jēkabpils followed, bringing together 22 participants from the municipalities and the project partner institution.

During both events, project results were presented, including the in-depth analysis of the historical ice-jam flood events; the impact of climate change on river runoff and ice phenomena in the near future; pilot river flood hazard maps; the flood warning systems in Latvia and Lithuania; and risk reduction measures, particularly measures that could be the most suitable for the pilot territories.

In Jēkabpils, presentations were also held on two related projects, SAFE RESPONSE and ICEWATCH.

Lively discussions followed between the participants and the project experts, including comments on most suitable ice-jam flood risk reduction measures, and opportunities for future cooperation.
